Geronimo Advisory is growing, with Dr Dominique Hes now joining the multi-disciplinary team. An award-winning researcher, author, strategist, project manager and change facilitator, Dominique is also a leading practitioner in the regenerative urban place-making, building decarbonisation, circular economy strategy and biophilic design realms.
Most recently, she was Net Zero Buildings Lead for City of Melbourne, establishing the program and engagement agenda. She has also recently collaborated on training and guidance around understanding and reducing embodied carbon through design for the Australian Institute of Architects, and was part of the Australian Government’s Circular Economy Advisory Committee, contributing to the development of a national strategy.
In addition, Dominique is the current Chair of environmental not-for-profit, Greenfleet, which develops, delivers and managed nature-based carbon offset projects through forest planting and regeneration. This is a role she has held since 2017, steering the Board through a period of major growth and transformation for the organisation.
Geronimo Advisory founder and Principal, Mathuran Marianayagam, is delighted to welcome Dominique to the team.
“Dominique’s work over the past three decades has inspired thousands of architects, developers, asset managers, designers, engineers and sustainability practitioners to aim higher, think more deeply and move towards stewardship thinking,” Mathuran said.
“We also recognise how valuable her expertise in building the capacity and capability of organisations and individuals to connect the dots on the different aspects of sustainability will be for our clients.”
Geronimo’s team has noted that a rapidly-growing number of organisations are looking at the holistic picture of the impact of their assets and operations, including not only energy but also social value, climate adaptation, ecosystem services relationships and embodied carbon.
The experience, skills and insight Dominique possesses will be instrumental in supporting organisations to map out a regenerative pathway and address emerging priorities.
“My focus is on strategic, collaborative work that brings together the multiple players in a system, whether that is a building, a community or a business,” Dominique said.
“I aim to create an enabling environment that can help align organisations to changing conditions and opportunities. In particular, the goal is to shift practices to net positive opportunities across all indicators – including energy, water, nature, culture and resources.”
“At the core of my professional practice is a belief in reinvestment into creating a thriving, flourishing future.”
